Eastern Hills Senior High School Music Centre

The music centre introduces a bold new architectural language and redefines the entry to this Helena Valley school.

The project brief required a 240 seat auditorium, teaching and staff areas within the 1960’s school site. Its location at the campus entry activates the administration forecourt and enables the facility to be used by the community without impacting the school.

The awarded design utilises precast concrete construction with a simple steel truss roof system. Considered roof detailing was applied to retain native trees in close proximity. A simple palette of materials and finishes were selected both for their appearance as well as longevity with minimal maintenance requirements. Ancillary areas are integrated into the existing typical brick and tile fabric.
